“Every picture tells a story”

I didn’t think I’d last very long not adding new pages to my blog. A month ago, just by a day, I thought I had penned (computer keyboard) my last entry. But as I dive head first into a new found love of photography I might just add the photographs I take, along with a word or two to accompany them into my blog as a new chapter in the way I’m dealing with the grief and loss. For I am using Jacob’s camera, capturing the world through his eyes – the lens of his camera, keeping us forever connected in the hope he see what I see. Jacob is still the undercurrent of my words, thoughts and is behind the creativity that his camera captures. I can’t take all the credit. The camera itself is worth a lot more than money can buy. Jacob had purchased it for quite a hefty price for a young lad just as he took a step out into the real world after leaving year 11 at 17 years of age. This camera was going to make him famous. Although it’s not my dream to become famous by using his camera, I hope that the photos I capture can stir up emotions in people and take them away to a place in their imagination as they look deeper into the frame. It’s the camera doing its magic not the photographer. Jacob helps me see the creative inspiration in each of the spaces in nature, scenery, people, stars and the moon and guides me to push the shutter button.
I will share lots of bits that I’ve already written for another site on Facebook called 52 moments: a recapture self photo community which has a topic each week evolving around the ‘home.’ We’re already up to week 17. I’ve never really hesitated putting photos on my Facebook page, Instagram or WordPress thinking they could get stolen by others as their own work with reason to make a profit. Make a profit from my photos I doubt it. I have the originals, the blue prints and ownership. But this does make you think of your own trust issues with today’s society in regards to technology. Who is watching you, reading your words, looking over your stuff? Will there be more incidence of identity theft as more people are online nowadays.
You may find that when you read some of the entries over the next few days and weeks that you may have read some of the words before but they are all stories and words that need to be shared and spoken. There are messages to be said. All of the photos that I will share were taken using Jacob’s camera. From now on and into the future -‘taking photographs and writing is my way of saying I was here, I saw this, I felt this, I heard this.’

This is my ‘home.’ The front of my house and the view looking at Mount Warrigal (Native Dog Hill) from the park across the road from my house showing a Heavenly glow around it. Other photos are of down the lake which is also across the road from our house on the jetty where we’ve fished, rowed our boats and watched the annual fireworks. This is where I grew up as a child and where I live today with my family and where happy  memories were made. This is part of Jacob’s childhood too for he was the only child born while we’ve been living at this house (as the saying goes ‘new house – new baby’).
